Every year for Lent I try to give up something significant. For those of you unfamiliar, Lent (practiced by most Christian/Catholics) is the period of time leading up to Easter. The point of LENT is to prepare for Holy Week which commemorates the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. (Just a little history for you :)) Anyway, it is common for someone to fast for the 40 days leading up to Easter; giving up something significant to show respect for the 40 days Jesus spent walking through the desert. One year, while I was working at Peet's Coffee nonetheless, I drank no other beverage but water. You could imagine how difficult it was for me to not have my daily espresso. Last year I decided to go vegetarian which actually proved to be quite a challenge but THIS year I've decided to go VEGAN! I plan to blog my diet for 40 days and see how easy or difficult this will be for me. One other thing is that LENT is always around the same time as my birthday and this year Ash Wednesday (which marks the beginning of the 40-day Lent/fasting period) falls on my birthday so I won't be able to eat meat or cheese or ANYTHING on or after that day until Easter. It will be a fun project to blog my progress and hopefully it will keep me motivated not to cheat. I have about two weeks left until my birthday so I will occasionally be making updates.
Good luck! :)
