VEGANISM.

for the record I don't think vegans are annoying. :)

what is a VEGAN? A vegan (pronounced VEE-gun) is someone who, for various reasons, chooses to avoid using or consuming animal products. While vegetarians choose not to use flesh foods, vegans also avoid dairy and eggs, as well as fur, leather, wool, down, and cosmetics or chemical products tested on animals.

why VEGAN? Veganism, the natural extension of vegetarianism, is an integral component of a cruelty-free lifestyle. Living vegan provides numerous benefits to animals' lives, to the environment, and to our own health–through a healthy diet and lifestyle.

It's March 1st which means it is 8 days until my 24th birthday, and 8 days before I can't eat meat, eggs or dairy. I've previously posted about FASTING and how, since I am Catholic, I usually fast for the 40 days before Easter (which is called Lent) and I try to give up something that I think will be significant and a challenge. This year I am going VEGAN. So of course, like any other soon-to-be college graduate, I have done a little research. I found some great information on VEGAN.ORG. I am mainly looking to find some meal plans to help me prepare things to eat. I will be blogging each of the 40 days with what I have eaten and my progress so far. This will start on March 9th (my birthday!!).

  1. Wow! I think that is so cool you are going to give being Vegan a try. I attempted a vegetarian lifestyle last year when I dated a guy who didn't eat meat, and I only lasted two weeks :( I can't imagine how difficult it would be to give up all animal products! Good luck with your 40 days of vegan!
